Spanning 69 square miles, Lake Winnipesaukee is the largest body of water in the state of New Hampshire. While providing a wealth of outdoor and water-based activities, the area is also rich in art and musical venues for anyone desiring additional cultural entertainment.


The Currier Art Museum contains approximately 13,000 works of art representing historic American and European artists using any number of mediums. The vast collection also includes modern pieces created by contemporary artisans from around the world and New Hampshire.

Music Festivals

The Meadowbrook Musical Arts Center in Gilford lies along the shores of scenic Lake Winnipesaukee and offers musical entertainment all year long. Summer months bring celebrity entertainers in outdoor performances. In winter, concerts include the chance to enjoy a concert accompanied by a three-course meal. From the beginning of June into the end of August, The Great Waters Music Festival in Wolfeboro offers live musical performances spanning from bluegrass, folk and classic rock to Broadway tunes, opera and orchestral presentations. The Anderson Hall and the Kingswood Arts Center host the many different events. The New Hampshire Music Festival has been providing quality live entertainment for thousands for more than six decades. From July through August, the community of Plymouth offers presentations that celebrate chamber and classical performances.


Doll collectors enjoy a visit to the Annalee Doll Museum, which showcases the creations of Barbara Annalee Thorndike who began a career in doll-making in the 1950s. The Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm provides guests with the chance to explore what life was like in the horse and buggy days by touring the home and property of a real country doctor. The Canterbury Shaker Village is a National Heritage Landmark that features 30 original and restored Shaker buildings on an impressive 694 acres of gardens, fields, forests and nature trails that provide the chance to experience the 200-year-old culture of the people. The site offers live demonstrations, exhibits, interactive family activities and educational programs designed to entertain guests of all ages.
